Memory of Nyo Family

Dear Daughter and Son: ဖူးႏွင့္ဂၽြန္သို႔

As you have seen that on TVs,  Daw Aung San Suu kyi has been released  on Saturday.  World leaders, Religious leaders, the celebrities, Rock Stars and  ten of thousand of her supporters around the world, welcome the release of Daw Suu.  It was a great news for the people.  This morning Secretary Clinton said that " I join with billions around the world to welcome long-overdue release of Aung San Suu Kyi" .  Yes It was long over due, not only but she should not been arrested at all.   Anyway on the evening  I was at the gate of her resident (through my computer) together with other supporters from Rangoon and around the world.  People have been there for since in the morning,  waiting and waiting for all day long,  at 5:25 PM local time the three official cars entered the compound, but one of the officers gave smile to the people.
A moment later soldiers started removing barricades from the street, the crowd started roared, " Long Live Daw Aung San Suu Kyi" "Free Daw Suu  "Long Live Daw Aung San Suu Kyi" "Free Daw Suu".  At 5:35 all Police were removed from her compound, and her neighbourhood.  People were keep chanting, dancing and crying for over joy on the street  out side of the gate.  A few minutes later She came to the gate with her gracious smiles.  She simply said thank you and greet the thousand of her supporters.   Suu is Free Now.

I went to the bed it was 3:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, but I couldn't sleep.  I was thinking the night when she was arrested in, July 20,1989.   I got a call one of her supporters from her house, he told me that soldiers were storming into the propert, he needed help.  The place only a mile away from where did I live.  I noticed that his voice was so nervous and angry,  I could hear background sound was so loud and noisy too, and the phone line was disconnected.  I turned off the light, I was standing by the phone for a minute, I felt that my body was froze but my chest was pounding badly.  I have been arrested for twice before, what  should I do this time?  I have no answer for my question.  Hopeless!

When I got into my bedroom I saw my two years old daughter was sleeping deeply,  I could see her cute little face under the soft moonlight it came through a window.  I stood on my knees next to her bed, then grabbed and cuddled her little tiny legs then whispered to her ears that I have to prepait for my journey soon but my destination was nowhere.  I kissed gently on her cheeks then I put two shirt and two longie in a shoulder bag took flip-flop after that kept all together near at back door.
After the day she was released she gave her first speech, over 40, 000 peoples gathered,  at her party NLD's office in Rangoon.  Her junkie speakers couldn't cover the  crowd, so people passing the message as in the Crocodile Dandy.  But her message was strong and awake all the people, please don't give up HOPE.  Crowd grows, again and again on her speech.  Hope is coming!

Yours Daddy,

A.Nyo
